Even though seat belt use has been on the rise, concerns remain about lack of use, especially among younger drivers at night. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), seat belts save around 13,000 lives in the US each year – though thousands more could have been saved had victims buckled up. In fact, since 1975, seat belts have saved around 300,000 lives and have significantly reduced the risk of moderate to critical injury.
