Truck makers and tech companies are racing to develop fully autonomous capabilities, keenly aware of the potentially huge benefits that self-driving trucks could deliver to operators: big reductions in driver costs, safer trips and a solution to perennial driver shortages are all on the table. The autonomous truck agenda has become increasingly visible to the public in recent years, with several players launching test vehicles onto public roads.
