Artificial intelligence will take human-robot collaboration to the next level

Current human-machine collaboration applications are limited in their scope, but robotics suppliers are steeling themselves for a time when AI could enable full co-operation. By Xavier Boucherat

Much of what makes Industry 4.0 such a revolutionary concept exists almost purely in the digital world, but there is at least one very physical manifestation – human-robot collaboration. That’s according to Massimo Ippolito, Innovation Manager at Comau. Speaking to Automotive World, he said that, “The interconnection of machines and the synchronisation of real-time and near-real-time data are the digital aspects. Human and machine collaboration are the physical aspects.”
