American love of the car has created challenges for MaaS advocates

Urban centres worldwide are embracing smart mobility, but the challenge for US cities like Denver is that they were built for the private vehicle. By Xavier Boucherat

Denver, Colorado, benefits from an educated and progressive audience which has shown great support and enthusiasm for alternatives to privately driven cars, including new mobility concepts that leverage connectivity and autonomy. That’s according to Brian Irwin, Managing Director, Accenture. This ardour will be essential if it wishes to solve a very American issue: whilst inner-city solutions provide some relief, a very large proportion of those working in the city centre will commute considerable distances from suburbs and satellite towns.
