Diesel’s uncertain position in the wake of the Dieselgate scandal demonstrates well how any technology, even those thought indispensable, can fall from grace. This year alone has seen automakers kill off numerous diesel variants, and some brands have drawn attention to their plans to distance themselves from the technology, if not drop it from their portfolios altogether.
