General Motors has selected Kim Brycz to fill in as interim Vice President of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, while a permanent replacement is sought, reports Automotive News. The position has been left vacant by the promotion of Bob Socia to President of GM China. As of 1 October, Socia took over the leadership in China from Kevil Wale, who is retiring.
While overseeing global purchasing, Brycz will continue in her current role as executive director of indirect materials. She has been with GM since 1983, originally with the Cadillac division.
GM spokesman Dave Roman explained that GM is looking both internally and externally for a permanent replacement. He would not confirm if Brycz was under consideration. This isn’t the first time she has served as temporary head of the purchasing operations. Three years ago, in the midst of GM’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy, she filled in for six weeks following Bo Andersson’s departure from the company.
