Daimler subsidiary smart’s US sales company has begun advertising the 2013MY version of its smart fortwo electric drive with a starting price of US$25,000 excluding a US$859 delivery charge and the US7,500 federal tax credit available to buyers, which reduces the base price to US$17,500.
Smart will offer two home chargers at prices ranging from US$1,300 to US$1,700 excluding installation at around US$200-US$500. Lease prices for the second-generation smart fortwo electric drive have yet to be confirmed. Its small-volume predecessor was priced at US$599 per month.
