Honda is recalling certain CR-V models around the world due to a problem with the driver-side power window switch. The recall covers CR-Vs from the 2002-2006 model years, built between 19 February 2002 and 28 July 2006.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the power window switch could fail, causing overheating, smoke and a fire. This could occur even if the vehicle is not in use. Owners have been asked to park outside as a precaution, until repairs can be performed.

The recall covers a total of 489,000 vehicles globally, with 268,655 in the US, about 220,000 in Europe and around 100 across Africa, reports Reuters. As a fix, dealers will replace the switches.

Meanwhile, Honda has just expanded a recall that now includes more than 600,000 Accords across North America. The models may have power steering fluid leak. In May 2012, Honda announced the recall of 56,881 Acuras, including 52,615 in the US, for the same problem. The addition of the Accords to already recalled Acura TL cars from model years 2007 and 2008 raises the number of affected vehicles in the US and Canada to 660,086.
