Volkswagen has confirmed it is to acquire a majority stake in Turin, Italy-based design and development services company Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A. (IDG), commencing what the Volkswagen board of management chairman Martin Winterkorn refers to as "a new era in the strategic partnership between these two companies."
