The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened a preliminary investigation into Ford’s Windstar model following 234 reports of axle failures. According to the agency, two crashes have been reported due to the rear axles breaking on 1999-2003 Windstars. The OEM built around 1.5 million Windstars during these years.
