Light truck popularity creating a mess of 54.5mpg, says Hyundai

Automotive World speaks to Hyundai Motor America's Mike O’Brien about the relationship between fuel economy targets and popularity of SUVs, CUVs and pick-ups

Hyundai Motor America recently reported November 2015 as its strongest November to date in terms of sales. The OEM said that this pattern has continued for sixth consecutive months, with sales up during each month since May. Notably, the Tucson and Santa Fe have been witnessing persistently strong growth, with sales rising 90% and 55%, respectively, during November.

Speaking to Automotive World, Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Corporate and Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America, explains how demand for larger passenger vehicles is impacting the drive towards meeting future legislation.
