London Taxi Company's (LTC) owner Geely is putting to rest concerns that it would take investment out of the UK. The Chinese parent company, which acquired the maker of the iconic London Black Cab two years ago, has outlined plans to invest £250m (US$371m) to build an R&D and assembly facility near Coventry, close to LTC's existing factory. The new 85,000 sq metre site will house all of the company’s research, development and assembly operations. Notably, the fresh investment could create up to 1,000 new jobs.
