2016 freight strategy could be “critical for the future of the US”

California believes its new freight strategy will be vital for improving air quality

Governor of California Edmund Brown recently announced an Executive Order that directs California’s Transportation Agency (CalSTA), the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Natural Resources Agency (NRA) to establish a strategy for reducing emissions from the state’s freight system. The plan will be implemented by July 2016, and will include ideas to improve freight efficiency and transition to zero-emissions technologies.

Speaking to Automotive World, Melissa Figueroa, Deputy Secretary for Communications and Strategic Planning, CalSTA, described how the plan could be vitally important for both California and the US as a whole.
