Although incentives by various governments around the world offer consumers a more appealing purchase by helping to bring down the upfront cost of EVs, in the long term, this is not sustainable. The cost of the more expensive parts in an EV need to be reduced, in order to lower the overall cost of the vehicle before incentives. This in turn could help boost sales. A two-year project focusing on sustainable lightweight low-cost battery systems for extended life cycles has just been completed by Cenex, a UK-based non-profit consultancy which focuses on low carbon vehicles and associated energy infrastructure….
