Tesla takes the fight to diesel with fully-electric Semi

Michael Nash reports on the unveiling of Tesla’s electric heavy-duty truck and the challenges the OEM could face

Electric heavy-duty trucks were once considered a nonsensical idea, a thing of make believe. Much has changed, and a number of companies, from start-ups such as Nikola Motor to traditional engine manufacturer Cummins are showcasing their latest prototypes. Some are already commercially available, such as Daimler's Fuso eCanter. The latest to join the3 race is electric vehicle (EV) specialist Tesla.
