New Russia plant gives Mercedes-Benz ‘negotiating clout’

The German OEM has released plans to invest in a large new plant that will house the construction of SUVs and luxury sedans. By Michael Nash

Daimler has recently announced that it will establish its first passenger car production plant in Russia. Located around 40 kilometres from Moscow, the plant will cost around €250m (US$262.68m). The first cars to leave the assembly line in 2019 will be Mercedes-Benz SUVs and its E-Class Sedan, sales of which were strong during 2016.
