High consumer concern for hacking highlighted in new study

A study from UMTRI shows that consumers are worried about the safety threat posed by malicious hackers for all types of vehicles

In 2014 the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) performed a multinational survey on the concerns and expectations of self-driving vehicles. The results highlighted cyber security as a key issue, with 40% of respondents in the US, for example, stating that they were “very concerned” about the threat of hackers. Consumers from other countries also voiced concern regarding cyber security in automotive, like 57% of respondents in India.
