EVs have always been stuck in the shadow of the more convenient hybrid, but Peter Harrop, Chairman of IDTechEx, said that by 2021, pure electric vehicles will take off, as by this point they will probably be more affordable, have a range of 480km/300miles, and a battery life of 15 years, which will offer good resale value. This could lead to significant sales figures by the end of the next decade.
