Electrification sets new standards for sports car segment

Sports car enthusiasts may miss the roar of the engine, but electric propulsion offers plenty of compensation. Porsche is one company that's betting big on this front, writes Megan Lampinen

High-performance electric sports cars could prove a highly profitable niche market, and Tesla faces rising competition from a number of corners. Porsche may be carrying around 90 years of heritage but it is proving to be considerably flexible for its age. Not only has it diversified into SUVs – and very successfully – but it is heavily investing in electrification.
