Consumer trends suggest Honda’s ‘Electric Vision’ may be more rose-tinted than realistic

Honda wants two-thirds of its European car sales to feature electrified powertrains in the next nine years, but will buyers be willing to pay for it? By Megan Lampinen

Honda may be Europe's fastest growing brand at the moment, but its new electrification targets for the region are clearly ambitious considering the penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) today and the consumer trends at play. News of the company's 'Electric Vision' emerged at the Geneva Motor Show early in March. Speaking at the event, Honda Motor Europe’s President and Chief Operating Officer Katsushi Inoue confirmed that the manufacturer wants to feature electrified powertrains in two-thirds of its European new cars by 2025.
