Asia: Cooper announces new appointment

Cooper Tire & Rubber has appointed Ron Shield as interim vice president and general manager for the company's Asian operations.
In this position, Shield succeeds Cooper Asia Pacific president Gene Arnold, who will retire from his position on 31 May. Shield recently retired from Cooper's European division.
In 1987, Shield joined Cooper Tire's Avon Tyre organisation as tyre consultant. In 2001, he became vice president of the company's European Operations and managing director for Cooper Tire Europe.
Cooper Tire is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio. The company recently announced that its UK facility in Melksham, Wiltshire, will house a new European Technical Centre, which will be responsible for the design and development of products manufactured at Melksham.
