A report published today by AutomotiveWorld.com - The light vehicle transmissions report (2nd edition) - forecasts that both manual and planetary automatic transmissions will continue to lose market share to automated manuals (AMT) - both single- and dual-clutch systems - and continuously-variable transmissions (CVT).

Furthermore, while production volumes of manuals and automatics will fall further in 2009 than they did in 2008 as the global recession takes hold and light vehicle output continues to fall, AMTs are forecast to continue to increase in total production volume throughout the period with an average annual growth rate of more than 20%. CVT output is expected to significantly outperform the light vehicle market with growth averaging around 10% per year.
