India: Renault and Nissan reported to be planning fuel cell car production by 2010

Renault is expected to begin production of fuel cell cars in India by 2010. According to a Deutsche Presse Agentur news agency report, the OEM is planning to build a plant jointly with Nissan, to cater to the European market.
According to the report, the fuel cell cars will be equipped with lithium-ion batteries but few other details are available.
In December 2006, Nissan and NEC announced a joint venture to develop lithium-ion batteries for fuel cell, hybrid and electric cars. The two companies were reported to be planning commercial production of the batteries by 2010.
