BMW has unveiled its Concept CS at the Shanghai motor show.

The car features a low roof-line, a long wheelbase and a return to the 'lean forward' BMW grille last seen in the 1980s.

The CS, at 200.8 inches long and 78 inches wide, is larger than the current 7-Series but at 53.5 inches high, five inches lower than the BMW flagship sedan.

The concept's headlights feature LED reverse-projection technology, while the rear is characterised by slender taillights. The interior features a layer design concept for the dashboard, with ceramics used for the controls and instruments, with height-adjustable collar elements in the seats.

While BMW has made no statement about a possible production version of the CS, it may point the way to the styling of the next 7-Series due at the Paris motor show in September 2008. Some sources, however, suggest it may instead evolve into a higher priced rival for the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.
