Tata Motors has unveiled its Prima concept luxury sedan at the 79th Geneva Motor Show, which opens to the press today. AutomotiveWorld.com caught up briefly with the Indian OEM's managing director Ravi Kant on the opening morning of the show's first press day, and the details of that interview can be found by clicking here).

Tata is aiming for an elegant, luxuriant and comfortable look with 'classical yet modern' proportions. The model was designed by Italian specialist Pininfarina and is based on the Indica. It features a coupe-like sloped cabin and tapering back. Its 2,700mm wheelbase offers generous interior space, complemented by the uninterrupted profile of the four doors.

Alongside the Prima, Tata is displaying the European version of its low-cost Nano model. The Nano Europa is still billed as an affordable 'people's car', but changes have been made to meet international safety and emission standards.

The car measures 3.29m long and 1.58m high, with a slightly longer 2.28m wheelbase. The interior has been redesigned for greater spaciousness, featuring what Tata describes as "a class-leading infotainment system' and leather material.

The model is powered by a three-cylinder all-aluminium MPFI engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. Tata says that the gasoline engine will provide 'class-leading' fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions of less than 100g/km. The OEM is currently working on hybrid and electric drive alternatives for the Nano Europa.
