Switzerland: New Infiniti modelsĀ for Europe-wide brand launch
Monday, February 25, 2008, AutomotiveWorld.com
Rolle, Switzerland-based Infiniti Europe has announced model names for its initial range in Western, Central and European markets with some differing in detail from how the cars are badged in North America.
Whilst no model name for the facelifted FX series has yet been revealed (FX 55 is rumoured), the importer says the G Sedan will be known as the Infiniti G37 (G35 in the US and Canada) whilst the EX 35 becomes the EX 37 in Europe. The G37 Coupe is the same in both markets, though Infiniti Division, unlike Infiniti Europe, also calls the large two-door car 'G Coupe'.
Powering the G37 sedan and EX37 crossover is the same 310hp (213hp) 3.7-litre Nissan V6 that was new for North America's 2008 model year G37 Coupe. This unit is likely to be fitted to the US and Canada's 2009 G Sedan and 2009 EX.
Sales in selected European markets are due to start in the fourth quarter with the brand's official launch set for the Geneva motor show on 4 March.
