Nissan has revealed initial information and the first official image of the GT-R, its most expensive model yet. The car is scheduled to be unveiled on 24 October at the Tokyo motor show.
Though the OEM has, in the past, marketed a Skyline GT-R in Japan and selected other right-hand drive markets, the new model will be sold globally without the Skyline prefix. The last Nissan Skyline GT-R went out of production in 1999.
The company has also announced the establishment of 160 Nissan High Performance Centers in its domestic market, aimed at providing sales and servicing support for the GT-R. No plans for overseas distribution of the new car have been released.
In Japan, the sales launch of the GT-R is scheduled for December, with the car expected to carry a base price tag of ¥7.8m (US$67,735).
