China: CAAM announces ten best-selling CV brands in Q1

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) has announced the country's top ten best selling commercial vehicle OEMs for the first quarter of CY2008.
Beiqi Foton was the number one brand with 122,300 units sold, followed by Dongfeng Motor, with 106,700 units, while FAW took third place with 79,900 trucks and vans sold.
China's top ten commercial vehicle OEMs and their joint ventures sold a combined 515,500 vehicles in Q1. CAAM states that this represented 71% of the total for all Chinese brand CV sales in the 1 January to 31 March period.
The top CV manufacturers, their location and sales were as follows:
- Beiqi Foton (Beijing), 122,300 units
- Dongfeng Motor (Hubei province), 106,700
- FAW (Jilin province), 79,900
- JAC (Anhui province), 43,100
- Changan (Chongqing), 33,800
- Sinotruk (Shandong province), 32,600
- Jinbei (Liaoning province), 30,800
- Shaanxi Auto (Shaanxi province), 23,100
- Jiangling (Jiangxi province), 22,800
- KAMA (Shandong province), 20,400
