General Motors says it has delivered a Chevrolet Equinox hydrogen fuel cell-powered vehicle to the Environmental Protection Agency.

The US government agency is to perform tests on the Chevrolet SUV, which GM states will be conducted as part of the EPA's normal vehicle fleet evaluation activities. The OEM notes that electronic monitoring equipment will record performance data.

"Our organizations have learned a great deal about hydrogen fuel cells and we look forward to furthering the commercialization of this important technology," Elizabeth Lowery, GM's vice president for Environment, Energy and Safety Policy, is quoted as saying in a statement.

General Motors has thus far delivered more than 100 fuel cell vehicles to various partners and evaluation agencies as part of its Project Driveway initiative.
