General Motors says it plans to invest US$69 million in its DMAX plant in Moraine to manufacture a new 6.6-litre Duramax turbodiesel V8 for its range of light trucks.
The new engine will meet stringent emissions standards that are due to come into effect in the US from 2010, GM notes, without issuing any other details of the forthcoming powertrain or its investment in the plant.
DMAX Limited, a joint venture between GM and Isuzu, was established in 1998. The Duramax diesel engine sub-brand was first used in the US market for the 2001 model year.
