General Motors says it will idle another US plant due to an ongoing strike at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings. The OEM plans to run its Wentzville facility for only two hours per shift until parts run out. Close to 2,000 people work at the Missouri factory which makes the GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express delivery/minivan twins.

UAW-represented workers at American Axle have been on strike since the end of February with both sides due to return to talks later on 6 March. General Motors has been forced to cease production at six plants in the US and Canada since the industrial action began. Some 19,000 or one quarter of GM's North American workers are affected by the ongoing dispute.
