This premium heavy-duty diesel engine oil complies with the latest specifications of many key European OEMs, even for the most sophisticated diesel engines, thus helping to provide peace of mind and warranty compliance.
High-tech Shell Rimula Ultra 5W-30 complies with both the latest European specifications (ACEA E6 and ACEA E9) and manufacturers’ approvals for use in Euro 4 to Euro 6 diesel engines. Shell recommends Rimula Ultra 5W-30 especially for ultra-modern power units complying with Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards. Its new product therefore contributes to full warranty compliance for the latest technology Euro 5 and 6 vehicles and also offers operators of mixed fleets the possibility to reduce the range of engine oil grades required for servicing.
Rimula Ultra 5W-30 is based on Dynamic Protection Plus Technology, offering advantages in terms of long oil life and extended oil-drain intervals, better engine wear protection under all terrains and weather conditions, while helping to save on fuel costs.
Extensive field trials with OEM partners including Mercedes-Benz have demonstrated that Rimula Ultra 5W-30 delivers up to 56% better engine wear protection. Depending on the respective approvals and manufacturers’ recommendations, oil-drain intervals can also be extended to up to 150,000km. Furthermore, Rimula Ultra 5W-30 helps deliver up to 2% better fuel economy compared to typical 10W-40 engine oils.

Shell’s unique PurePlus Technology is a revolutionary gas-to-liquids process that converts natural gas into crystal-clear, ultra-pure base oil with virtually none of the impurities often found in crude oil. Thanks to its optimised viscosity, friction and stability properties, the base oil forms the foundation of the Shell Rimula top tier products.
The Dynamic Protection Plus Technology combines PurePlus Technology with Adaptive Additive Technology, giving rise to a product that specifically prevents the build-up of harmful acids and deposits on key components such as the sump, cylinder head gasket, cylinder sleeve or valve train.

In addition to the new Rimula Ultra 5W-30, the Rimula R5 and R6 range are now based on Dynamic Protection Plus Technology. Additionally, Rimula R6 LM 10W-40 and Rimula R6 M 10W-40 engine oils for utility vehicles have been further developed to comply with extra specifications, enabling them to be suitable for an even more extensive range of applications.
As well as the product-based innovations, Shell’s Rimula product family also gets a make-over with a new packaging design, providing customers with clearer, easier to understand labelling and communication of the product benefits, while delineating more clearly Shell Rimula from other products on the market.
