Safety and Security Service

Shanghai OnStar offers a broad portfolio of safety and security services for buyers of selected Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet models from Shanghai GM. Shanghai OnStar has built a system that is highly integrated and supports in-depth real-time monitoring of vehicles. In the event of a collision, the OnStar system automatically alerts an OnStar call center. An OnStar advisor will respond immediately, contacting emergency services to provide assistance.

In addition, Shanghai OnStar offers a full range of security solutions such as Stolen Vehicle Location, Stolen Vehicle Slowdown, Remote Ignition Block and Vehicle Alarm Notification. OnStar’s voice function enables drivers to make and answer calls, and check weather and real-time traffic conditions without taking their hands off the steering wheel.

Smart Service

Shanghai OnStar has become synonymous with smart onboard telematics service. It was the first company in the industry to introduce a mobile app in China. Users can check vehicle conditions such as fuel economy, oil and tire pressure. They can also lock and unlock doors, start their vehicle remotely, find the best route to their destination and then send it to their vehicle, and check the location of their vehicle using their smartphone.

At Auto Shanghai 2015, Shanghai OnStar’s industry-pioneering mobile app voice function will make its debut. This is part of its new blueprint for in-vehicle people-machine interaction. The technology will be introduced as “Xiao O” and inject a more emotional element into smart OnStar functions. The innovative thinking leads the trend in the industry, paving the way for the creation of a new telematics experience. Xiao O has embedded cloud voice remote control, which offers a vivid interactive experience. It enables users to get information and reminds them when service is recommended. Customers can use voice commands to check the weather, traffic conditions and odd-even license plate restrictions, and start their vehicle remotely.

Connected Service

Shanghai OnStar is dedicated to the application and strengthening of connectivity. At the 2015 Barcelona Mobile World Congress in Spain, Shanghai OnStar and China Mobile – the world’s largest wireless telecom carrier – announced that they will launch 4G LTE telematics service across China. The new service will debut in a Cadillac model from Shanghai GM this year.

The OnStar 4G LTE telematics service will be based on China Mobile’s TD-LTE technology, which has a data transmission speed that is up to 10 times faster than 3G technologies. It also provides better responsiveness and the ability to support simultaneous voice and data connections. A powerful external antenna can maximize coverage and connectivity for an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot. The embedded 4G LTE hardware will allow users to watch online videos in their vehicles, get real-time updates and rapidly download apps. The service will significantly improve vehicle remote diagnostics speed and allow over-the-air software updates.

Shanghai OnStar will integrate its powerful 4G LTE communication ability to provide unmatched telematics experiences that meet the needs of the various customer groups, in an endeavor to bring to customers telematics solutions that cover the whole life cycle of the automobile and that exceed customers’ expectations.

Convenient Service

The OnStar system’s one-button operation delivers convenient, worry-free service using voice commands – regardless of weather and road conditions. Subscribers can use the white button to make phone calls, check weather and traffic conditions, book airplane tickets and hotels, and call a dealer to schedule an appointment for service.

The blue OnStar button can be used to connect with a professional OnStar advisor for Turn-by-Turn Navigation, OnStar Destination Download, Point of Interest and other services. Users can also use the button for real-time vehicle diagnostic.

Pressing the red emergency button will alert an OnStar advisor for emergency service. Besides obtaining support in the event of a traffic accident, users can communicate with health care professionals for medical assistance.

User-Friendly Service

Shanghai OnStar operates call centers in Shanghai, Xiamen and Chongqing that are staffed by friendly and professional advisors on a 24x7x365 basis. The OnStar back-office map includes information about more than 26 million points of interest.
