As part of the CROME project, Renault is supplying the Alsace Region with three Renault Kangoo Z.E. vehicles. The keys will be officially handed over today to François Loos, Vice-President of the Alsace Conseil Régional. Renault and the Alsace Region will also present the keys of the first ZOE purchased by an individual customer.
Renault is inviting its Alsatian customers to try out electric mobility on both sides of the Franco-German border with the CROME project.
At a ceremony organized today at the Maison de la Région, Bernard Cambier, Senior Vice President, Market Area France, Renault, is presenting the keys to three Kangoo Z.E.s to François Loos, Vice-President of the Alsace Conseil Régional.
The two men will also be handing over to an individual customer the keys to the first Renault ZOE delivered. The Alsace resident benefitted from the additional aid provided by the Alsace Region to customers buying electric cars.

Commenting, Bernard Cambier said: “More than 400 Renault ZOEs will be registered in Alsace in March, proving that the Region, with its electric vehicle plan, has become the spearhead of electric mobility in France. Beyond the success of this plan, Renault is delighted by the numerous real-life initiatives rolled out in partnership with the Region, including the CROME program and the Electric Vehicle Users Club. Renault, the French and European leader with its range of four electric vehicles, is proud to be taking part in this development in Alsace.”
Commenting on the success of the Region’s aid plan, François Loos said: “We originally planned to provide regional aid for 500 electric vehicles. But the success of the program, launched in 2010, has enabled us to grant €5,000 in aid to 800 customers, charity organizations, local authorities and small businesses. We are pleased that Alsace is on the cutting edge of electric vehicle use and on its way to becoming a pioneer in the field.”
The CROME project was launched by the German and French governments in February 2010 to develop, implement and test a safe, reliable and user-friendly electric mobility solution that is compatible between the two countries. CROME consists of 100 electric vehicles and several hundred drivers. Today, these motorists have access to some 25 charging stations in Germany and 12 in France, where they can charge their vehicle in between one and eight hours, depending on the station model and make and the vehicle.
Geographically, CROME covers the Alsace Region, with an emphasis on the Strasbourg area and the Moselle département, in France and the area between Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Freiburg and Stuttgart in Germany.
