July 30, 2014 – Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japanese domestic sales, and export results for the first half of the calendar year (January – June 2014) and the month of June 2014.

The First Half of Calendar Year 2014

Production in Japan for the first half of calendar year 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2012).

Production in regions outside of Japan for the first half of calendar year 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive year (since the first six months of 2012), setting record high production for the any half-year periods of the calendar year. This includes record high production in Asia and China.

Production worldwide for the first half of calendar year 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2012), setting record high production for the any half-year periods of the calendar year.

June 2014

Production in Japan for the month of June 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the tenth consecutive month (since September 2013).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the fifth consecutive month (since February 2014), setting record high production for the month of June. This includes all-time monthly record for production in Asia, and record high production for the month of June in China.

Production worldwide experienced a year-on-year increase for the 11th consecutive month (since August 2013), setting record high production for the month of June.

The First Half of Calendar Year 2014

Total Japanese domestic market auto sales for the first half of calendar year 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2012), setting record high sales for the any half-year periods of the calendar year.

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in two years (since the first six months of 2012).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive year (since the first six months of 2012). , setting record high sales for the any half-year periods of the calendar year.

<Vehicle registrations – excluding mini-vehicles>
Fit was industry’s second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the first six months of 2014 with sales of 121,764 units. VEZEL was the industry’s eighth best-selling car with sales of 46,679 units.

<Mini vehicles – under 660cc>
N-BOX was the industry’s second best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the first six months of 2014 with sales of 96,478 units. N-WGN was the industry’s fourth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the first six months of 2014 with sales of 87,440 units.

June 2014

Honda’s automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of June 2014 experienced a year-on-year increase for the 11th consecutive month (since August 2013).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year increase for the tenth consecutive month (since September 2013).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the first time in three months (since March 2014).

Fit was the industry’s second best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of June 2014 with sales of 16,066 units. VEZEL was the industry’s fourth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of June 2014 with sales of 11,680 units. Freed was the industry’s tenth best-selling car with sales of 5,380 units.

<Mini-vehicles – under 660cc>
N-BOX was the industry’s third best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of June 2014 with sales of 14,039 units. N-WGN was the industry’s fifth best-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of June 2014 with sales of 11,868 units.
