Chery shows up with strong lineup at Buenos Aires International Motor ShowOn June 18, 2015 Local Time, the 7th Buenos Aries International Motor Show, one of South Africa’s most important motor exhibitions, kicked off at La Rural Convention and Exhibition Center. The event brought together over 20 worldwide renowned automakers such as Volkswagen, Honda and Mercedes-Benz, and is expected to attract more than 2 million visitors. As the only Chinese passenger vehicle brand in the Argentinean market, Chery showed up with 7 vehicles of 5 models on nearly 500 square-meter ultra-large red-white booth, including Chery’s new-generation SUV–T21 and new-generation car–M16 which made their debuts in Argentina.

At the press conference on the day when the event opened, James Hope, a former designer of GM and executive modeling director of Chery, elaborated on the design concept of Chery’s new-generation models such as T21 and M16 in such aspects as modeling proportion, brand DNA, design language and sensory quality. He also presented the creativity of the new logo to local media. The spiritual and dynamic modeling and numerous Chinese elements of the new models attracted wide attention from local media and consumers, too.

T21 and M16 to be launched in Argentina next year are Chery’s major strategic models. Both models are based on Chery’s new iAuto core technical platform. Powered by a 2.0L DVVT engine, T21 has rich equipment such as dual airbag, 17in aluminum alloy hub, ABS/EBD and reversing radar. Notably, T21 was rated as a five-star model in a C-NCAP collision test by its outstanding safety performance early this year; M16 not only passed a five-star C-NCAP collision test, but also has high international quality. M16’s ultra-long wheelbase of 2,700mm and idle muting effect of 38dB make it competitive among models of its segment.

According to the source, Chery has developed rapidly in Argentina in recent years with 35 dealerships in only seven years after its entry. Due to the sales booms of series such as QQ, Fulwin and Tiggo, Chery has become the second-largest foreign auto brand in Argentina. Chery’s appearance in the event will not only lay a solid foundation for introducing its new-generation models such as T21 and M16 to Argentina, but also play a positive role in enhancing Chery’s brand recognition and expanding its market share.
