UK tech ambitions undeterred by Brexit’s ‘economic turbulence’

Leaving the EU should not detract from the UK's aim to lead the autonomous and EV revolution. It could even help it. By Megan Lampinen

Brexit or no, the UK government is determined to push ahead with technology leadership ambitions. Chancellor Philip Hammond’s budget statement to parliament allocates a fresh £390m (US$488.4m) in funding to support autonomous and electric vehicle (EV) development, backing up previously stated aspirations to become a hub for these new technologies. The funding comes several months after the vote to withdraw from the European Union, a move that many industry players opposed.
