The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal between 12 Pacific Rim nations, including the US, could have a significant impact on global trade and the rules governing it. The TPP’s automotive provisions clearly have implications for North American and Japanese vehicle markets and production. Reaching the TPP deal was a signature accomplishment of President Obama’s second term, and he has launched an aggressive campaign to sell the nation on the TPP’s merits.
