Toyota tops electrified vehicle target three years early

The electrified vehicle market has previously fallen short of expectations, but Toyota has hit one of its targets earlier than expected. Michael Nash reports

Market analysts and government officials have found it extremely challenging to predict sale forecasts of electrified vehicles, which includes hybrids, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs). Some previous goals have been overly optimistic, but as OEMs are now witnessing strong growth in the segments, targets are being smashed.
