Suppliers say powertrain tech development ‘won’t stand still’

Powertrain technology for the commercial vehicle segment will continue to evolve as a result of tightening fuel economy and emissions regulations. By Michael Nash

Although many companies are turning to areas like aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tyres to find fuel economy improvements in the commercial vehicle (CV) segment, innovation and progression in the powertrain will continue. This trend was evident at the 2016 IAA Commercial Vehicle show in Frankfurt, with a number of suppliers showcasing the latest optimisation of existing technologies and the development of new ones.
