‘Solid’ supplier results undermined by US Class 8 downturn

Freddie Holmes takes a closer look at recent results from suppliers with an interest in the US heavy-duty market

Recent analyst forecasts and supplier results paint a worrying picture for suppliers with a stake in the US Class 8 commercial vehicle (CV) market.

In 2015, Class 8 production in the US totalled a near record high of 323,000 units, but 2016 is set to be a different story altogether. Columbus, Indiana-based ACT Research is currently forecasting this figure to drop to 235,000 in 2016, and to further decline to 215,000 in 2017.
