Ford's patent for an autonomous police vehicle, which could detect and apprehend other vehicles breaking the law, has some industry watchers concerned. By Megan Lampinen

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) may be in their infancy today but the potential applications of self-driving technology are massive. Ford is exploring possibilities within law enforcement and has filed for a patent for an autonomous police car. Many patent filings are never realised in the market, but just the idea of this application has some industry watchers concerned.
