The promise of autonomous driving continues to steer all players in the automotive industry down a particular path. With no driver at the wheel, individual components on a vehicle need to be able to operate and maintain themselves, as well as detect possible faults before they become an issue. Not only will this be paramount to occupant safety, but with autonomous driving likely to transform the nature of liability in the event of collisions, it is clearly in the interests of OEMs too.
