The second stage of the fifth phase of Latin NCAP crash tests highlighted the improving direction in the Latin American market towards the very important issue of child occupant protection. In the tests, the Volkswagen Golf VII paved the way for safety improvements in the region as the first car to receive a five star rating for child occupant safety. Despite the positive results in this area, the fact that no car has ever reached five stars for child occupant safety before signifies the major market problems that persist, and it’s not a surprise to note that Latin America is still years behind  other countries when it comes to occupant protection.
