E-Cell puts electric trucks on trial

Daimler’s Portuguese trial of the Fuso E-Cell will test the suitability of EVs in commercial vehicle applications

Eight Portuguese transport operations have begun a one-year trial of Fuso’s E-Cell, the electrically powered version of the Fuso Canter that embodies the technical advances achieved since it was first shown as a prototype at the 2010 IAA.

In offering the vehicle, Fuso lays claim to being the only vehicle manufacturer to offer a light-duty truck with a choice of three powertrains: a conventional diesel engine which meets Euro VI and Euro 5b+ emissions standards; the Canter Eco Hybrid; and now this battery-electric version.
