Collision avoidance tech gets full marks ‘as expected’ in NHTSA study

Freddie Holmes speaks to Meritor Wabco’s Matthew Stevenson about the performance of its active safety system during a year-long study

The results of a 12-month study conducted by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) show that collision avoidance systems (CAS) were 100% effective. Specifically, 150 CAS-equipped trucks across the US took part in the study, and in over three million miles of driving, no rear-end crashes – which the CAS technology is designed to prevent – were identified.
