Cars can already ‘drive’ themselves, and the technology has been demonstrated to media in controlled conditions over several years now. But when fully autonomous cars will eventually come to market is a hot topic for many automotive industry players.

While much of the underlying technology required to build truly autonomous vehicles, such as cameras, sensors, radars and imaging systems, is already available, autonomous cars have still not hit the roads – and many people believe they won’t for some time.
