2015 was ‘the watershed year’ for battery-electric buses

Interest and demand in battery-electric buses increased dramatically in 2015, and is expected to continue rising during 2016. By Michael Nash

Transit agencies across the world have often been wary of adopting battery-electric buses. Range anxiety played a huge role in this, as the agencies depend on having buses with the capability to operate for an entire day across challenging routes.

However, a number of OEMs have been busy trying to prove that electric buses are the way forward for the transit market, with some recording notable success during 2015.
